Family Cycling From Ljubljana to Piran

On the first day of your 8-day cycling tour, we will meet in Ljubljana, where you’ll be warmly welcomed and checked into your comfortable hotel or B&B. After settling in, you’ll have the afternoon and evening free to explore Ljubljana’s charming city center at your own pace. Wander through the picturesque streets, visit the iconic Ljubljana Castle, or relax in one of the many cafes. This is a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the city before embarking on the exciting cycling adventure that awaits in the coming days.

On the second day, you start cycling from Ljubljana, heading toward the tranquil Ljubljana Marshlands. The route takes you through charming villages like Vnanje Gorice, Podplešivica, and Podpeč, offering a glimpse into rural Slovenian life. You’ll pass through Borovnica, with its historic surroundings, and Bistra, known for its beautiful nature. Your journey culminates in the town of Vrhnika, where you’ll enjoy a well-deserved rest. This day offers a perfect blend of nature, local culture, and scenic cycling, preparing you for the exciting days ahead.

On the third day, you depart from Vrhnika and cycle through the scenic countryside, passing through the quaint towns of Logatec, Planina, and Unec. The route offers a mix of gentle climbs and tranquil landscapes, leading you to Rakek, a peaceful village surrounded by lush nature. Your day ends at the banks of the stunning Lake Cerknica, where you can relax and enjoy the views of Slovenia’s largest intermittent lake. The area is a haven for birdwatching, and the serene surroundings provide the perfect backdrop to unwind after a day of cycling.

On the fourth day, you begin your ride in Cerknica, cycling through the scenic village of Unec before heading toward Postojna, home to the famous caves. From there, the route takes you through the charming villages of Razdrto and Podnanos, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and rolling hills. As you continue, you reach the picturesque town of Vipava, known for its rich history and wine culture. The day concludes in Ajdovščina, where you can relax and enjoy the town’s charming atmosphere after a rewarding day of cycling.

On the fifth day, you begin your journey in Ajdovščina and cycle through the peaceful town of Dornberk, followed by the quaint village of Lipa. You continue through Kostanjevica na Krasu, a charming spot known for its rich history, and pass through the scenic region of Slovenian Karst, famous for its unique landscape and vineyards. You’ll also pass through Sela na Krasu and Vojščica, enjoying the quiet, rural atmosphere. The day ends in Komen, a lovely town where you can unwind and reflect on another beautiful day of cycling through Slovenia’s picturesque countryside.

On the sixth day, you start your ride in Komen, cycling through the picturesque village of Pliskovica before crossing into Italy. You pass through the charming town of Prosecco, known for its vineyards, and continue on to Villa Opicina and Basovizza, where you’ll experience the blend of Italian and Slovenian landscapes. The border crossing is seamless, and before you know it, you return to Slovenia, finishing your day in the elegant town of Lipica, famous for its Lipizzaner horses. After a day of diverse scenery and smooth cycling, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The seventh day is the grand finale of the first leg of your cycling trip in Slovenia. The route takes you toward the coastal town of Muggia, near Trieste, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Adriatic Sea. As you continue along the beautiful coastline, you’ll pass through charming towns like Ankaran, Koper, and Izola, each offering its own unique charm. You’ll also ride through Strunjan, before reaching the picturesque town of Piran, where you can celebrate the completion of an unforgettable cycling adventure.
